Collectible Cars Out-perform Shares, Gold

Collectible cars have beaten shares, wine, art and even gold, which is up 30 per cent in the past three years. In the same timeframe, the ‘blue chip' index of cars that matter is up 60 per cent.

But they have to be the right cars. If you've got an AC Cobra 427 or a 300 SL Roadster, you're in the money. But if you've got a pristine Daihatsu Terios up on blocks, best get professional help.

For what it's worth: British classics are down, Ferraris are up, muscle cars are down, German collectibles are up, American classics are up and affordable classics are slightly up.
